Hello, Zhu Hai~!

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I took the inter-town coach yesterday to get to Zhu Hai city. This is an amazingly attractive and comfortable city. I love it very much AND is planning to come here to work and live in the near future.

The topography is generally composed of plat grounds, mixed with scattering small hills. People in Zhu Hai are so clever that they make full use of this city’s terrain by building detached villas on those small hills so as to achieve a good view of the sea or nearby city sceneries. In this case, they turn the short comings of those hills which are supposed to be road blocks into advantages in the exploiration of real estate.

Compared with Guangzhou, ZhuHai is much more favorable to me. It is no less developed than its provincial capital city. What more important is that the living condition in Zhu Hai defeat that in Guangzhou by a large margin: the air is fresher, roads cleaner and circulation of  traffic freer. All of thses elements are allowing citizens in Zhu Hai to live in an unhurried manner, which is the most appreciatable point of this city.

See the night view of Zhu Hai? It’s gorgeous!

Snacks in Guangdong

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I’ve stayed in Guangzhou for around one week. Snacks here are rather impressive and unique. Here are some recommendations resulting from my personal experience.

Seafood would come first when we are discussing Cantonese delicacies. Oysters, shrimps and inkfish are widely welcomed by local people. They would consume a lot of those kinds of seafood everyday. If you are a seafood lover too, you should never miss Guangdong.

Second comes its herb tea. Guiling Jelly is the most famous one. Beside there are some others like White Gourd Tea and Fructus Momordicae Tea and so on.

Milk Custard is also very delicious.

This is the first local snack I had tasted after arrival. It’s call mock turtle soup. Both local and visitors seemed like it very much. This chewy bowl of beaf offel smells and tastes well.

Following is Guangdong Won Ton stuffed with shrimp meat. It is very light and delicate in taste and is good to health.

Lastly, you should never miss the gruels in Cantonese snacks. This is one of the must-taste-it. It is called Tingzai Gruel. Refreshing and special.

Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

It is known as a famous commercial city in ancient Guangzhou for its developed economy and commercial tradition of long standing. In Shangxiajiu Street the atmosphere is full of  traditional business charm of fascinating folk customs of Xiguan.

It would never be any exaggeration to say that Xiguan Shangxiajiu Street and Dishifu Road is a shopping heaven in Guanzhou, because the goods selling there are comparitively cheaper than other places and are no less fashionable and  ecnomical. In this case, I spent a whole day there with my best friend shopping and tasting delicious snacks. Right! Aside from the clothing shops there is a street of delicacy which sells snacks from many different regions in China. Of course the most attractive ones are those selling seafood. We tried the oyster, shrimp, fish ball and moch turtle soup, ect. I like the herb tea very much. They are not only taste great but also good to health.

Another strong feeling of yesterday’s shopping is that it is always best to have a friend with you when you are doing shopping. Therefore, no matter how long the pedestrian street is, you won’t feel worn out, because the Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street is rather long and contentful.

Jude 1996

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

It is a movie adapted from Hardy’s novle Jude the Obsecure. It is a sussessful analysis of love, religion and life. To me, it tells a lot about the above mentioned and shocks heavily on my conception of movie.

I do not want to mention neither about the plot nor the performance of the actors. They are all awsome in this movie. It really worth watching. It impressed me by its theme, its reflection of the real world and its distribution of several subjects all at a time.

Jude expresses with dark elegance a profound pessimistic view of life. I haven’t read Hardy’s original work Jude the Obsecure. However, I could feel the book must be filled with strong sense of the author’s recognition of the 1990s as a depressing and bitter period of time. The young people like Jude was struggling to make ends meet. Hard working as Jude is, he could not enter his fancy college. Instead, the students were shamed after hearing Jude reciting a excerption in Greek. It is a critical attack towards the then existing edudcation system.

I was surprised to see that the British society was so conservative at Jude’s time. They refused to hire Jude, though his carpentry skill was appreciatable. They refused to accept him to rent their houses just because he hadn’t married Sue, the woman he lived together with.

Sue is not compliant to the prevelant religious belief. She bought statues because of which the landlord forced her to move out. She loves Jude. Therefore, she chooses to go with him even if she has already married. Traditional marriage to her is nothing more than a bound between two people in case one would abandon the other.

However, her liberty with belief and religion was totally shocked down to the ground by her children’s death. I don’t think her choice to leave Jude is her heart hatred or resentment towards Jude. Instead, she is in deep fear that her being together with him would kill her loved one, because she blame herself for her children’s death. All the sufferings and misfortunes, in her point of view is due to her disobedience against the religion and the social convention. She leaves him for her deepest love of him.

I love this movie! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!

Tour Resorts to Recommand

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Ailsa, you started out this morning for Chengdu. Remember we exchanged our student certificates for possible discounts? Here, as a local Chengduness, I would like to  recommand to you some fancy, pricey hotels for you to stay in. This should have been done before you set out. However, it’s better late than never.

Sichuan Hotel would hit the top of my list:

I’ve stayed in Sichuan hotel for several times when our relatives came from afar. It’s rather comfortable and homelike. You know, apart from its delicate furnish, I exclusively enjoy its bathroom, because it’s embeded in the bedroom, partitioned by frosted glass. It brings the entire atmosphere a hovering relaxing flavor.

More importantly, it locates right in the center of the city. You can go directly to the pedestrian shopping area –Chun Xi Road without any transportation vehicle. It only take you a five-minute walk. It is about 1.6 km away from the Renmin Parkand only 30 to get to the Panda City of China.

You can rest assured that you are safe staying in this five-star hotel. Though it ranks high, it’s far cheaper than you would expect it to be, taking you only around RMB 100 per night. Even costs  only a little bit more than those ordinary inns. I guess it may be the cheapest one among the five-stars. You can surf on its web: http://www.scsti.ac.cn/tour/html/agent/chuanbin.html

Yun Long Hotel is also a good choice

It stands at the crossroad of Xinhua Road, in the center of the city. As a solo girl traveler, I would strongly recommand you to stay in a more safer place like the city center rather than the outskirts. Yun Long is equiped with central air conditioner, security system, hi-fi equipment, cable TV, mini bar, IDD, ect.

As a three-star hotel, it is apparently excessively fancy to have many restaurant on its eighth floor providing many dilicious food for you. Night clubs, tea house, beauty saloon, gym and KTV rooms are also available right inside its building.

I have already said a lot. It’s high time for you to explore the city. Hope you will have a good journey in Chengdu. Never mind if you need to give a counter offer of recommandations for me. Though your homecity Shenzhen is also a entirely unkown city to me, I have already found good rates through a website addressed: http://www.hotelscombined.com It offers information about hotels in every corner of the world. If you need more information about hotels in Chengdu, you can click this link: http://www.hotelscombined.com/BrowseByCountry.aspx

Oh, one last thing. Don’t bother with your diet any more. Enjoy the delicious food~! I guess you will love them. Keep in contact!

Hard Candy

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Right after I finished the movie Hard Candy, looooots here to say.

Jeff (Patric Wilson) the devil, gains the audience’s sympathy, of course, all the way through until he finally talked his evil deeds at the very end before he commits suicide. Actually, I was confused in the middle part as the movie went on,  wondering: is Jeff really a villian; or it might be Heyley (Ellen Page) who is really insane and is imposing torture? Even at some time, I believed Jeff is innocent. And had hoped the neighbor who comes to visit will discover the conspiracy and call the police to release Jeff. (Of course, now I have a full view of the two main actors, and changed my standing.)

Lots and lots to comment on this movie. No wander it gains fame. But there are two haunting questions on my mind right now:

Why does Jeff become so nervous everytime when Janelle is mentioned? Is he really in love with that woman and would like to sacrafice life for her in the end?

Why is Heyley intentionally dressed in red in the end, walking in the bushes? Does that have any symbolic connection with the Little Red Hat, to further indicate her heroic and brave characteristic?

Anyway, Hard Candy is no doubt a clever and exciting thriller, which developes with mainly two actors, apart from the neighbor (Sandra Oh). It leaves me a lot to be think about. The feeling is a little bit too complicated to sort out. But it’s really new hit in thrill movies. The heroin in the Hard Candy is inconventionally scary and remorseless. The actress not only stricks me but also leaves me drained and exhausted…

Top 4 Items for Online Purchase

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Recently, my roommates are almost crazy about on-line shopping. They order perfumes, cosmetics, clothing and shoes in on-line stores. Though a few didn’t go smoothly enough, the products were non-exceptionally returned to the retailers without charge. Most of the goods are quite satisfactory. On-line purchasing is totally a new conception of consuming, which can hardly be accepted by the elder generation. However, that’s a way of being young! Here is a personal finance advice

Obviously, some things are best purchased on the spot. But some can be easily available on line and at the same time save you a lot of time walking and bargaining. Here are 4 items that I would like to recommend as best-on-line-shopping items..

1. Books.

Our class has booked all our text books on line. They much more cheaper than those in the local bookstores. What’s more, as we placed a large order with the retailer, they offered us a considerable discount, which really saved us a sum.

2. DVDs and CDs.

Some online retailers now surface used versions of many of the DVD movies they sell new. You may find similar deals for online CDs.

3. Little kids’ toys.

They are vividly shown on the homepages demonstrating the toy from every angle. Then you can’t get it wrong. Meanwhile, you can get the same plush toy at a amazingly lower price than in the Toy House in you neighborhood.

4. Software and console games.

Buy used, and you’ll pay half or less what the software cost new. But it’s more than just a matter of economy. Letting someone else be the early adopter also allows you to benefit from their experience.

Funnitures

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Have you ever heared of such a thing named funnitures? I guess not, because I invent the word on myself~! Hahhah.. After you see the pictures and my brief introduction you will know why.

These are a pair of sofas. Can you believe it? Really, these two cute cotton mounds are extreeeemly comfortable to sit in. What’s more, after you stand up, the shape of your gesture and hip can be recorded on it.

This is not an ordinary bed at all, though it appears to be. You know, underneath the mattress is not simply a woodboard. It is a huge container in which you can store almost anything.

This is a convenient desk for the lazy. With it, you can have coffee and reading in bed. It can stand quite firmly, so do be afraid about whether it will collapse in a minute.

And, lastly we come to this–a wardrobe! It can be restructured easily as you like. The volume is imaginably larger than common wardrobes.

Aren’t they all fabulous to have? I am now dreaming of my full house…

DRYOUT Your Water Damages~!

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Recently, the southern part of China is suffering from pouring rain and floods, due to the unexpected overwhelming spring “drizzle”. Houses are swallowed, roads are blocked and mud-rock flow covered some areas. The situation is rather critical. I searched on the net for some remedies and found DRYOUT.

Mr. Lin is one of the victims: merely had his family moved into their newly built house flood invaded their town.

What shall we do after being stricken by flood, or say water damages? The work of cleanup involves more than drying the wood flooring. We also have to deal with various problems such as examining and fix the electrical systems, replacing and repainting damaged walls, and preventing mold growth

You must be infuscate since the whole project is so complex that it appears to be demanding our whole life time to finish! Then, you know what? Water Damage can lend their hands. They provide a wide range of services to guide every step of the way from repairing the damage to helping you with the insurance paperwork. You can also find numerous valuable advice and information on its website about how to prevent water damage, to deal with urgent accidents and to make your loss to the least after the damage.

To get all these conveniences, all you have to do is a slight click on the its homepage and a brief registration. Then all the things left are to relax in the coach waiting for their visit.

The Devil’s Prada

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

This is my third time watching The Devil Wears Prada. For this movie I don’t have too much comment on its plot, cause’ it’s no more a repeat of routine Hollywood soap opera, which tells about the foam of superfacial fame and bland competition among career people.

The real attraction lies in all the fantastic dresses and glowns in the movie. The heroin is no doubt a beauty, at least for me she is. Even when she started her job in the Runway, she looks pure and … not bad anyhow. And, of course, after dressed up she is amazing~!

Among all the gorgeous dresses I think the most fansy suit is the following white overcoat with the shoulder bag, gloves, and hat. A super match!

Even after her resignation from the Runway and takes up her job as a journalist in a small publishhouse, her tast is obviously changed, definitely different from that of the former blue sweater girl handing resume to Mirada in her office.

Mirada, of course, is the monster in her power strentch, especially in the Runway magzine head office. Being her assistant is torturing, but the position has never be vacant. “Girls are killing to get the job.” What’s the attraction? Fashion to be sure!

Anyway, clever Andy received Mirada’s trust and respect. She companied her to Paris, received the permition to enter her house and wan bounch of clothes and shoes. Whatever her final choice was leaving or staying, she succeded.

This movie is, in a word, attractive. I enjoy it as a soap opera, an unrealistic dream, as well as a fashion show. Hope you like it too.
