Merry Christmas!

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Today is a big day for both westerners and younger generations in China– Christmas!

It’s not easy to see Christmas trees be decorated in shops, Santa standing in front of super market handing out candies and flooding presents and cards people are sending to each other. It shows that Chinese people are more and more internationalized today.  Meanwhile, many Chinese traditional festivals are being accepted by foreign countries, such as Spring Festival and Mid-autumn Day, ect.

Well, on behalf of the internationalised Chinese, I’d like to extend my great wish to all the people on the net: Merry Christmas!

Leisure Life of Ancient Chinese Commons

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

As technologies improving fast, modern people have various ways of entertaining themselves. However, when there weren’t so advanced computers, TV sets nor MP3, how did our ancestors have entertainment?

     06003.jpg       222.jpg

Bird-feeding is one of the most popular way of leisure in ancient China. But, unfortunately, it’s almost disappeared from the scene. People no longer carry on this traditional entertainment. Modern Chinese choose to raise pets like dogs, cats or even snakes! A little bit crazy, I think.

    44.jpg        55.jpg

Well, there are some traditional recreations passed down until now. Chess and Go are very good examples. Their popularity goes beyond the Chinese boundary and floods over the whole world.   11.jpg        22.jpg

But, not all the traditional ways passed down are deserving appreciation. Gambling is the devil .

Chinese culture is broad and profound. There are essence that we should inherit and junks we should get rid of.

Adaptation and Alternation Narrow the Gap between Dream and Reality

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It’s my great honor to share with you my view towards dreams and reality.

Talking about dreams, lots of favorable, bright and rosy images are emerging in our mind. Dream is a blueprint people have in personal imagination about future. It is spurring, cheering and heart-stirring. In comparison, reality is not always a satisfaction. Undeniably, gaps do exist between dreams and reality. What are we going to do with the disparity? I’d like to sum up my answer in two words: adaptation and alternation.

Sometimes, obstacles and pullbacks stand in the way of our perusing of dreams. Even worse, disasters may occur to handicap us from continuing and retrying. Adaptation to the cruel reality is crucial for one to regain the pleasure of life.     For instance, a devoted ballet dancer unfortunately broke her ankle in an accident. And there’s no chance for her to return to the stage. Had she better commit suicide? Or is it wise for her to hold resentment of the whole world ever after? Any way, neither of the two options will be my choice. If I were the dancer, I may choose to shift my love of dancing to appreciating and teaching the magic of this specific art to others, cuz’ I think if one loses life or the interest to it, one loses all. Thus, we can say, through adaptation and alternation we gain more than what we’ve lost.    It is the same when comes to the pursuit of dreams. On the ground of inconstant realities, the pursuit of dream is always winding and perilous. However, no matter what difficulties or discouragements we may encounter, we should never give up or give in. We should adapt ourselves to the altered situations quickly and respond accordingly with optimistic alternation. Hold fast to your dreams, they can accelerate your efforts; apply adaptation and alternation to changes. They save you and bring you to a new start.

I really appreciate your sitting there and listening to my speech. Great thanks for every body!

China’s One Child Policy Dose Good to All

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

As a developing country with a large population, China is under the policy of “one child for one family”. This policy is good for the whole society. Only children can be provided with better living conditions, more opportunities for better education and one hundred percent of parents’ love.      When it comes to parents, this policy has sharply decreased the burden of raising children. They can pay more attention to their career; enjoy more time for entertainment and save more money for their old age.      What’s more, for Chinese society, this policy means more resources , on average, can be available for each person.        All in all, under the current circumstances, China’s one child policy is good for every aspect of our society.

Problems Arise before My Birthday

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

It’s always troublesome, from the first minute we moved into the new campus, far far away from the down town, for us to have any form of entertainment, except hiking and mountain climbing. Problems arise several days before my birthday.

Well, wanting to have a get-together with my friends on the very day, I decided to invited them to KTV to have a good night. But, things turned out to be not so smooth going as I thought. Some have to attend their optional courses, some have been engaged into certain meetings, and others are not sure whether they will be able to catch the bus after they finish the last class on that day.

Gosh~! What’s the matter? Is this all my college life is about? It’s even so hard for us to have a party! You know, when we were freshmen, we did those kind of thing frequently, say it’s too often may be more adequate. How about now??

OK. The RMB10 yuan cost may not be the biggest problem, but the over two-hour travelling is.   You know what am I thinking of now?   —- Bombing up the so called new campus!

On Protecting Forests

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

u32558534124034152352gp22.jpgIs it necessary to protect forest? Definitely, the answer is YES, because forests are the basis for all lives.   What will be a world like without forests?   Firstly, the entire land surface will be exposed under the sun, ground will be burning and people may get sun burnt. What’s more, most of the water on land cannot be held. They may flow into seas or rise up into the sky in the form of steam. In that case, the whole world will suffer from drought. Even worse, animals can’t find food to eat and the starvation will finally come to human beings.

u38020260374573003gp6.jpg    u24738184072002535225gp14.jpg

From those terrible images, we can see no one can survive without forest. Actually it’s nonsense for me to reason why we should protect forests. Nearly every body knows the importance. But there are still some ones destroying forest deliberately for money. Always, the sceneries are terrible.

What do we need to do? To protect the forests, or to prevent human beings? Maybe it’s wiser to say that they are just the same thing. I think we really need to think over this matter. There are ones who always complain about bad inviroment but they themselves are polluters at the same time.

courage

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Today I read a passage in the magazine called “college students”. It is written by a Chinese student who is having a further education in Australia. And I am deeply impressed by this brave girl and her story. She comes from a rural area in China, but she is strong and always fights against the fate. She earns her education fee by herself, but every night she has to stay up late to study in order not to be fallen behind by others. Once she was involved in a robbery, but she didn’t submit to that robber. On the contrary, she fought with that strong man. And finally, she was hurt and had a lot of blood. The doctor said even a man couldn’t persist such a long time and it was a miracle. But she said: “I kept telling myself: I can’t die today! I can’t die today! I just can’t die today! Not here! Not in Australia!”

I am really moved by this girl, and her spirit. I also want to go abroad, but I was worrying about that I will feel lonely and what should I do if I can’t catch with others. Comparing to her, I am a coward, but I hope from now on, I will succeed. God bless me

the playground

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I needed to write something about a place which I was familiar with, but during one hour of sitting at the desk, I got nothing. Actually, I couldn’t find a place where I could put pen to paper. Being tormented by this, I put on my NIKE RUNNER and went downstairs to run. Suddenly, an idea dawned on me: the playground! The playground, which has 400 meters track and less than 1,000 seats, is not very big, but it is a union to link all the students and teachers together. Every morning, when I come to the playground with the flag of our English Corner at 6:30, the playground has already been a sea of joyfulness. At the entrance of the playground, there are many elder women dancing to the music. They are so energetic that a lot of young people join in them. Their various dances even attract some foreigners to learn from them. Look at the western corner of the playground, you will feel pressure if you are a student. Because there are always many students read books. I believe if the laziest student sees this scene, he will never dare to get up late in the morning. Beside these students who are reading is our English Corner which is held by the Student Union of our department. Every member of the group is enthusiastic and talkative. Hopefully more students will join us.There is a football patch situated in the middle of the playground. The grass is cut neatly, which provides a convenience for these football players. It seems that this football patch is boys’ paradise, because no matter in the morning, afternoon, or evening, you can always watch their game. These boys’ playing football on the green grass makes a vivid picture. In the northern part of the playground, there are some fitness equipments. Comparing with dancing with elder women, the elder men prefer to stay here. They often play Taichichuan and sword or make good use of these equipments. Some of them will bring their birds here…The playground in the morning is vigorous, while it shows another scene at night, peacefully and harmoniously. People usually have a walk on the playground after supper. Some students who don’t have classes at night will play badminton in the light. There are also some people who keep running like me for an inspiration…If the playground in the morning is a boy who is full of vitality, the playground in the evening should be a gentle girl. no matter it’s a boy or a girl, it is always my favorite place.

pride and prejudice

Thursday, October 25th, 2007
Today, I have read “pride and prejudice”, which takes me two days to finish it, although it is a simplified version. I like the main characters, although sometimes I feel anxious at their shyness to love. Darcy, an unmarried handsome man with a large fortune but very pride and coldness; Elizabeth, a clever beautiful woman but very poor. At first, they don’t like each other. But after experiencing many things, they felt their love. However,
Elizabeth doesn’t show her feelings at all. Luckily, Darcy is brave enough to express his love to Elizabeth and proposes her without minding the inferiority of
Elizabeth’s social position. I like this man gradually. For his
Elizabeth, for his love, he conquers many things, including his pride and selfish. It’s an valuable behavior in that times. And
Elizabeth also conquered her prejudice against Darcy. They get married at last and have a good ending. The author describes the details of reaction between Darcy and Elizabeth, and I think they are a cute couple.
