Friday, May 30th, 2008

This month has witnessed a lot of big events, including my continuous nightmares before the earthquake, the quake and several papers we finished. Tomorrow, right before the end, it will see me through the BEC Vantage examination.

Now, I am in Xi’an city. I mean the downtown area, sitting in a net bar. Funny when I stepped up the stairs, I was murmuring “What about the afterquake happen again when I am in the bar? It is almost a entirely closed floor without any emergency exit.” Then I just couldn’t help laughing at my redicule.

Downtown area is extrodinarily prosperous for person like me who have lived in such a remote place for two years. The snacks are more delicious than ever, cars fancier than ever, people more fashionable than ever and the roads more crowded than ever too. I feel a little bit dizzy here. Maybe, I am now quite used to the peaceful place with low pace of life. Not only the people and trafic here are excessively noisy to me but also the air here is chocking.

Believe it or not, the earth is badly ill and people live in the cities are not awared at all. They cheer for their success of conquring the nature, know not at all the disarsters waiting in their way ahead and that of their descendents.

Two Peaches Kill Three Warriors

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

In the Spring and Autumn Period, there were three proud warriors in Qi kingdom. They were all exclusively brave and good at battles. Thus the king held special favor for them. However, their arrogance made the Prime minister Yan Ying angry at them.

One day, the king was holding a banquet dining the king and ambassador from the neighboring kingdom. Lu Prime minister Yan suggested that the three warriors should present in the dinner. Meanwhile, he was planning a cunnning trap for them.

When the dinner came to its mid-way, Yan suggested that the peaches in the backyard were ripe enough to have a taste. Then the king asked some servant-girls to pick some up for tasting. However, Yan volunteered to pick on his own, because, he said, ripe peaches in this season were few and far between and the peaches in the backyard of our respectable king’s palace were even more precious. Let me go and pick some.

Before long, Yan returned with six peaches on tray, but there were seven people presenting at that moment. The king asked:”Aren’t there any more peaches? Why didn’t you get some more?” “Because the others are not ripe enough to eat.” Yan answered, bowed and handed over one peach to his king and another to the king from the Lu country.

The king was extremely happy with the little pretty and delicious peaches. He asked the abassador and his Primier to have one respectively and they accepted respectfully. This time, there were only two peaches left on the tray. Yan proposed that the bravest two would be rewarded the peaches, and the king gave the permission.

One of the three worriors stepped forward and said he once killed a tiger that attacted the king when they were hunting in the forest. ”Aren’t I worth the peach for rescuing our respectable king?” Yan gave his agreement immediately and gave him the peach together with a cup of wine. The first worrior stepped aside infatuatedly.

On seeing there was only one peach on the tray, another warrior stepped forward and hurried:”A tiger is just a piece of cake compared with the huge sea turtle I killed when I was companing the king across the yellow river. It dragged the horse into the billowy water and nearly got our king drowned. Hadn’t I jumped into the water, unimaginable things could have happend. Aren’t I deserve the peach?” The king agreed immediately that his life was save by him and alloted him the last peach.

The last warrior was desparated seeing all the peaches gone. He shouted that it was unfair because he was the bravest one of them all. He successfully captured over 5000 enemies in a battle, so he thought he deserved the highest prize. The current situation was a insult to him and his contributions to this country. He killed himself on the spot.

The other two felt deadly regret and sorry for his death. What’s more, they realized they were not as brave as the third one at all, so they killed themselves too, so as to relieve their guilt for killing their once comrade -in- battles.

Following is a picture drawn in Han Dynasty as a record of this famous story.

Explosive on Shoulders

Monday, May 26th, 2008

The upper stream of the Qianjiang River near Beichuan County was damaged in the May 12 earthquake, forming “quake lakes” as water was shoved from its bed by rock and mud slides sent off by the earthquakes.

With the heavy rainfall recently in Sichuan province, the water lever is continually increasing. It is reported that at the highest point it has already measures 723 meters, only 29 meters below the lowest point of the weir crest in Tangjiashan district.

According to the weather report, the following two days will witness 20~60mm rainfall. That means this district will be in great danger of flooding before long. In addition, the bad weather is also difficult for the soldiers to take action. They planned to land equipments into the lake district, but finally failed due to the thick clouds.

Yesterday afternoon, an antiaircraft brigadge of 800 soldiers from Chengdu and 1000 armed policemen from Mianyang airport were called out, each carring 10kg explosive and a shovel, to march into the endangered quake lake in Tangjiashan.

Great soldiers, you all have a brave heart!

Find A Place for Them

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Having heared that Shannxi porvince will receive nearly 10,000 people from Beichuan, Sichuan province, I searched on the net for official news about it, but found nothing concrete to prove this saying.

However, it will take one year or two for the earthquake striken district to recover. Thus, we should take immediate action to find a place for the victims. Sichuan government is now providing tents for them to live in temporarily, and is planning to building up resettling houses in 20 cities for them.

According to some governors, the resettling houses would amount up to over 1,000,000 rooms in order to meet the need of the homeless 3,000,000. Each room should be sized about 20 square meters. A water supply station, a public lavatory and a garbage recycling center should be available for every 50 households. A primary school, a clinic and a market should go with every 1,000 households.

This huge project is to be finished within four months with the help from many other provinces. Collective spirit is highly promoted and have been reflected all the way through China’s earthquake disarster. I think that’s why we are alway ranking our Chinese nation as a great nation.

Tears Shed for 108

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

At the foot of a mountain in Luoshui, Shifang city, Sichuan province, there buried 108 pupils. As you can see in the picture, one brick is one tombstone of a kid.

Some children haven’t been claimed by their families; therefore, we are forced to have some bricks stand there with no names on it. To memorize the dead kids, the soldiers carved numbers on the bricks as signs. The figure 108 is more than a pure number, but a shocking fact that some many little kids died in the disaster.

I don’t think it is necessary for me to criticize the fragile constructions schools built. Nearly every one in China now is strongly complaining about the hastiness. All I want to say is:

Headmasters and pit bosses, attention please! When you are going to do any constructions ever after, always remember the number 108. Don’t make any of your family members add up to the figure.

Get back to Myself~

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Hah~! Today seemed to be a turning over of my gloomy month. I slept and slept almost 16 hours a day recently, but still felt tired and strengthless. However, I woke up early this morning and found the sky clearer than ever, birds singing sweatly and grass prettier.

I went to the liberary and did some long postponed exercises. That made me feel real and back to the real world. Next week will witness my participation in the BEC Vantage examination. Originally, I made a revision schedual to follow step by step to achieve a good resuilt in this test. However, it seems everything were against my plan and, more importantly, my state of mind was not at all ready for any work.

Still remember the nightmare and daymare I’d had in those days? Accidentally enough, they were just before the big earthquake. I know it’s nothing but only coincidence. Still mysteriou enough, isn’t it?

Today, I find it pleasant to see all of my classmates in a high spirit. They maybe have the same feeling as mine, and have already come back to life again like me do. Hah~~~ An indiscribable impulse made me want to hug every one of them and to embrace my bright life.

Another thing, I want to mention my dear friend Mr. Li. Sincerely my best wishes for you and your family. I hope everything will take a turn for the better. And I Am Always Here Ready To Help!

What A Month

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

This month is totally destroyed by the earthquake disarster. It seemed as if China has been companioned with disarsters all the way through this year: snowstorm, Tibetan riot and earthquake.

Opened this page minutes ago. I was shocked to see the last post was writen on May 18. My life is badly disturbed by the unexpected happenings. And I guess all the Chinese people may be bothered to different extent.

In the recent two days, I am just too low to hold myself up: sleepy in classes, hasty in assignments and disordered in meals. Sometimes I find myself so weak that even can’t stand on my own two feet. I guest this may be caused by the sleeping out in the open air the night before yesterday.

It wasn’t because I’m scared of the earthquake or something that made me dash out of the building. Sarcarsticly, it was my roommates that made me have to go out. I’m not blaming. But it’s really not worth the while at all. They’ve been sleeping out in the garden for a week and not at all want to give up now. I really admire their courage and persistance. From the first day of earthquake, I refused to go with them to the outside. Therefore, I had to sleep alone in the dorm for four nights. However, we received a smg sent by the government, saying there would be a after shock in Shannxi the day before yesterday. That made us all more nervous than ever. Anyway, I wan’t thinking of sleeping out yet. But, you know, when all of the other 15 girls were out it would be hard to stay calmly. Thus I gave up and caught myself a cold…

My Deepest Grief for…

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

FIFTEEN minutes later, ALL Chinese people will take three minutes together to mourn for the victims sacrificed in the earthquake.

Last night, I surfed on the internet for the first time searching for information about the disarster and the people involved in it. I feel deeeeeply sorry for my idiotic speech days ago. I was indeed talking nonesense about how over-sensitive people were (although actually I still think people far away from the epicentrum like me needn’t be too nervous), while knew nothing much about the situations on the spot.

Today, let me present my deepest grief for all the dead and injured, and pay my greatest respect  for the soldiers, docters, nurses and volunteers in the stricken aeras. I hope you all good luck and safty here.

 …….

Well, I failed to post my previous words before the mourning time. It’s a pity. During the three minutes, I felt the great Chinese heart beating so vigorously. All the people in this room stood up to pay respect together. The ADW alarmed in through the three minutes. It sounds like a desparate cry, shouting out sorrow and grief of China directly towards the heaven.

All the SIchuan people, my dear fellowmen, may God save your souls!

Thunderstorm Cleans the Campus

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Yesterday evening when my dear roommates were planning to go out and eat hotpot together, the weather suddenly changed. It was scorching in the morning until the minute before I got out of the self-study room. When I arrived the dorm, black clouds gathered and thunder started to approach.

Before the shower poured down to the earth the atmosphere was rather choking, and wind indulged between bloks, screaming and mourning. Trees looked so weak that they were pushed almost down to the ground. Some, this morning, are found upside-rooted.

Soon, the storm befell in the manner of invasion. It came with no consideration of the host land’s endurance, punching the buildings ruthlessly, striking and smashing the ground so heavily as if it’s going to penetrating the earth.

It was such a grandure scene I have long been unable to witness on this campus. Woke up early this morning. I wandered around to find all renewed overnight. My brand new campus after a shower from the heaven.

A Pregnant Lady WALKED out of Hell

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Qin Xiulan a pregnant lady living in a small villege near Beichuan, Sichuan province, was feeding chickens on the day the earthquake broke out. She witnessed the remorseless disarster killed her father and husband all in a sudden, when she was in the yard.

Seriously shocked, she cried and cried beside the relics till it was dark in the night. Considering the unborn baby she dicided to set up a camp on a open and vacant ground. By so doing she and her baby stayed there for the first night. However, their lack of food and water supply forced her to find a way out of the ruined villege.

Ms Qin said she could came across refugees, and they all tended to offer her help. After walking for a whold day and a whold night, she got to the town Beichuan. There she received medical examination and heal care. Luckily, both she and the baby are in good condition. On hearing the doctors comforting words, Qin burst into tears.

Strong women as Qin can be found in large number in China. They are always supposed to be capable of dealing with suffering in a calm and determined manner. Here I wanna pay my great respect to her and all the other women facing the threaten of the current disarster. Hold on! You can make it.
