False Step or False to Help?

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

May 18, one year after Pengyu, a man living in Nanjing, helped an old lady, he finally recieved his verdict. Why was the warm-hearted young man accused for his kindness? The plot is a little bit dramatic:

After Peng sent the old lady to hospital, 40,000 RMB was paid before he found her families. However, the result was not at all as expected. The lady’s families thought Peng to be responsible for the old lady’s injury in the over-crowded mob trying to get on a bus.

They put their benefactor in an embarrassing position, and most ironically, they succeeded in charging him 40% of their medical expendition.

What’s the right thing to do then when we meet some old ones fall over themselves? Seeing the judical punishment for Peng, I think it’ll be much more better to be selfish and indifferent than ask for trouble following up.

My Last Semester?

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Recently, we are talking and worrying about what to do with our approaching graduation. Most of my classmates are thinking of taking the postgraduate exam. They none-exceptionally hope to stay in school for two or three years more. Some are prepareing themselves for going abroad, preparing themselves for a bright bright future and big fortune.

What keeps on my mind is comparisonly simple– a job after graduation. Though we are told the cruelty of the “real world” beyond campus by various illustrations, the only way out is to face it. Moreover, I’m not a potential scholar at all. Postgraduate study, for me, is none sense. Not to mention the disappointing Chinese educational system and its current situation–nothing but a waste of time.

I’m not a person with keen ambition either. My job is to fulfill my basic need, and my life is to be enjoyed in a relaxed way without too much stress and luxuries, ’cause neither of them are vital components of my life.

Last night, I had a chitchat with my roommates. They reminded me that I should learn something about resumes and interviews to coupe with the job fairs next semester. What a damn! Next semester is the dead line. I should pack up to be kicked out of here. A little bit controversial reaction, but I think I can manage that.

The Game is over

Friday, March 14th, 2008

We lost the game with the Taiyuan University of Technology by a distantly distinguished score– 55:86. The competitor had been the champian of this competition for 9 years till last year, while ours has only entered the top eight. LUCKILY, this time we broke the shameful record by winning the second prize in the northwestern district.

I’m not clear about the date of the following up finals. Anyway, I will focus on the event as our school team will honorably take part in.  It is said that every champion in a district will have the first match with the runner-up in another  district. In that sequence, our team is very likely to be thrown out of the game on the first  day…

However, the team enjoys the stronggest support of all the NPU students. They are really our heroes. At least, I AM waiting expectantly.

Recently, the biggest affair as well as the hottest topic on our campus is inavoidably the CUBA basketball competition. This is reallyb a big event for university students all over the country. It started with the first battle between Shanxi Financial University and our shool.

Now it’s already in the semi-final stage. Yesterday afternoon, one of my favored team– Xinjiang University ran out of the competition. They were unluckily encountered with Shanxi Financial University, they one that our school team has defeated by only 6 scores (66:60).

The players come from the universities in Northwestern China. After the final, the top two are going to attend the nation-wide competiton with other three main districts– Northestern, Southwestern, and Southestern. May my school team good luck! All the students on this campus are now excited and firmly surpportive toward our home team. Hopefully they can enter the national finals.

Sunny Women’s Day~

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

2.jpg

March 8th, is the international Women’s Day. Hay, it is TODAY! The drizzle stopped yesterday evening. Thus the sunshine now is excessively bright.

On this day for women, a job affair is held in Anhui province for female applicants only. Over 1000 job vacancies are available there. It is rathre unusual to have such an opportunity for Chinese women to be superior to males in job hunting. Cool! All the attendants in the fair, as you can see in the photo, are females. Let the males to have a reconsideration over sex equality in the future after being discriminated.

May every woman happy today and day after! Actually, women should gain respect by their self-esteem and devotion, instead of relying on a festival or other’s sympathy. Best wishes!

Too Much Noise about the Sex Scandal

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

The Hongkong pop star, Edison Chen, has long been the focus of the entertainment media this year. This affair is said to hurt a lot of his fanses’ feelings. With the great eloquency and increadible story making skills of the paparazzi, several female stars are involved.

I haven’t seen much so called nasty photoes stolen from Chen’s personal computer. It is, to me,  extremely stupid a (more…)

Post Snowstorm Thought

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Winter’s gone and the weather starts to warm up gradually. However, the snowstrom disaster is still a hot topic for the media as well as the coming press conference held this month. For most of the time period of the disaster, I was staying in my hometown. The snowstorm didn’t have much negative effects on Chengdu, in my memory, except for some terrible traffic jams.

One morning, I was on the bus travelling to my friend’s home. The passengers surprisingly found there was ice suspended on the trees, which made the plants look amazing. However, the excitement didn’t last long, because we were soon trapped in a long long queue of cars. During our helpless wait, I found it was even more crowded on the highway, which lied below our road. What was worse, the vehicles on that expressway were all heavily loaded big trucks. Thus the situation was much more serious.

Half an hour later, we moved on again, but the trucks were still waiting there, seemingly already deep in sleep.

Though I haven’t suffered much from the disaster, I watched the television and knew that some area in China was heavily striked by the storm. Thanks to the selfless devotion of the soldiers and police, people in those area pushed through various difficulties.

Sick

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I feel sick now, not of any illenss, but of the weired 4 hours I’ve being sitting in front of this computer. My head aches, my stomach protest and my legs numb. Am I a real idiot to sit here torturing myself? Of course not. I’m not here aimlessly surfing. Instead, I’m doing my assignments which are due on nest week.

God knows why I am named Chen, whose first letter is the third in the  Pinyin order. Thus it’s unavoidable for me to be the first to take on  all the presentation task. Such a burdensome honor for me to be the pace-setter all through the three years. Seldom will my teacher have sympath on me. They would hardly give up their overbearing arrangement.

How I envy my classmates to have plenty time for preparation! If I am alloted the time, I can surely do much better~. I promise. All right. I have to logout to have my neck relaxed for a while.

That really helped a lot. After I wandering around the markets for half a day, I really learn a lot and am really worn out. Though I haven’t decide which one to buy, the process is quite benefitial.

I have to seek for some advice from computer major students. It won’t be long before I have a nice nice NOTEBOOK PC for myself~~!!! Hah Hah!
