Christmas in Advance

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

It is because our foreign teacher is going to have one day off on the Christmas, she decided to have the Christmas celebration in advance. That’s why on Dec. 18, today, we have our Christmas party hold in class.

Everybody come to class today bring with themselves a “white elephent” present. We choose gift in a pick-and-rob way. That is quite exciting! And we play games like we were still little kids, laughing, teasing and singing. Never have I had this kind of feeling after I entered the university. The party narrows the gaps between us. Suddenly I come to realize that we have companied each other for about 3 years. And we are quite used to have each other around. Every one has changed a lot from the freshman he/ she was. We are more mature, considerate and sensible.

Now, I just want to tell every classmate of mine that You Are The Best and I Love You All~!

Happy Birthday to Francis

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Yesterday is my Francis’ 20-year birthday. We 6 girls got together to have a big lunch and stuffed ourselves to the full. After that Sophie and I took the bus to downtown to buy presents for her. Anyway, it’s really a tough job to choose a gift. We spend the whole afternoon– that is nearly 6 hours shopping. At last, we achieved a very satisfing complex of present. We bought a lot of items and made it a collection into a lovely box. Then we took one-hour bus back to school. She was fascinated by our gift and our devotion. We felt great to make her so happy on her birthday too.

In my university life, I haven’t come across disputes or arguements among girls which are said to be very common. It seems we all value each other sincerely and try to live like a family. That’s the very thing I think is superior to other universities.

Memorial for 70 Years

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

jh.jpg     Recently, TV, radio station, and nets are all emerged with comments and journals about the same event– Nanjing Massacre memorial. 2007 is the 70th anniversary of the disaster to all Chinese. People are gathering together to memorize this historical event. Visits are paid to remind people of the heartbreaking insult.

Historical lessons can never be forgotten. Nanjing Massacre is not only the misfortune of the Chinese people but also of the world. It was an unscrupulous trampling of human civilization.

On August 12, 1985, the People’s Government of Nanjing Municipality had the Memorial to the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre erected on the site of the Jiangdongmen, one of the places where the Japanese troops slaughtered the Chinese civilians in mass.

Since then, numerous people from China as well as a great number of overseas friends have come to visit and express their grievances as well as their wishes of opposing aggressive wars and safeguarding world peace.

Peace and development is the common theme of the human beings. People in Nanjing, having had much suffering from wars, cherish even more peace and life, and they are dedicating themselves to the construction of a New Nanjing. Now with a population of 5.2 millionit has become a center in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in economy and culture.

Xi’an Incident Memorial Day

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Recently, our campus is filled with bands which read “Remember the history, remember the insult forced upon our mother land.” It’s because December 12 is the anniversary of the Xi’an Incident that took place in 1936.

The incident is also known as the Double Twelfth Incident. After the Incident of September 18, 1936, the Japanese imperialists seized the three provinces northeast of China, and intensified their invasion of North China. This was the very moment vital to the Chinese nation.

Yet Jiang Jieshi persisted doggedly in carrying out his reactionary policy “domestic tranquility is a must for the resistance against Japanese invades,” and commanded the Northeast Army and Northwest Army, respectively headed by Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, to attack the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region. Inspired by our Party‘s policy “let us stop the internal war and unit to resist the Japanese aggressors,” those two generals made to Chiang Kaishek the proposal of forming a united front with the Communist Party for the resistance. Not only did he reject the proposal, but flew to Xi’an to scheme the “suppression of the Communist Party.”, and the slaughter of the patriotic youth. Out of patriotism, Zhang and Yang started the famous Xi’an Incident.

We should not forget the history of course. But what we’re going to do with the shames and insults is only to develop our country quickly into a prosperous one so as to defend herself against any kind of opress. Moreover, time is changing and people have to treat history correctly and shouldn’t always bear resentment against each other. Or it will be very hard for us to have a peaceful and harmonious world to leave in. History is a mirror from which we can learn lessons from so that we can avoid similar mistakes. It is not a revenge booklet at all.

Exciting

Friday, December 14th, 2007

It’s been several days since I wrote my last post. In the past few days, I was busy preparing the last project of this semester—a drama performance.

We wrote scripts ourselves and had a whole week off to rehearse. It’s not as easy as I expected it to be. Actually, we spent a lot of time discussing and pear-correcting. The process was tiring and frustrating.

However, the result is quite satisfactory. Our group, performing TESS has done a outstanding job that made the judges unanimously give the best performance credit to us. That’s really encouraging. After the performance was ended, our group members went to canteen to have dinner together to celebrate our achievement.

Outside the window was a cold winter, but inside we could feel the warmth around us all.

It’s good to be in a group!

Funny

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Every day there are funny signs to be seen, and I don’t always remember to write them down.

Friday, I bought a booklet so I would have it handy to write down the things I see. Here are the first two entries:On a store front: “New Oriental Dogwood Bookstore”On a billboard: “Reproduce Style Spirit” (with?)

Finish!

Monday, December 10th, 2007

After my efficient work on the thearical script writting, I finished my assignment two minutes ago. That’s really a cheering enterprise. From it, at least, I find myself capable of dealing with difficult jobs and having good efficiency in working.

Last Friday, I decided to go to downtown and have a wonderful weekend before our suspending of courses. In that case, I should finish my script writting within one night. I borrowed a laptop that night and worked and worked until 2 o’clock in the morning. Then I went to bed very contend with my first draft.

Today, I came back from Xi’an on time. And did  the  revision according to my schedule. It’s good to have a plan, really. I find myself more efficient and happier than ever. I think it can also be called a kind of growing up. Right, Alla! Stick to this good habit and benifit from it.

Even if you are a gaga fashion follower, you may not find the name Iris Apfel among fashion frontiers. But why do I say she is an excessively fashion lady? She is neither a charming model nor a super star in the fashion circle. However, she is one of the ten most significant interior decorator in morden architecture history.

50 year ago, Iris Apfel and his husbend Carl Apfel, another excellent architecture among the ten,  estanblished the Old World Weavers Company in America. Their regular customers include: the White House, MoMA, Estee Lauder, and super star Greta Garbo.

Besides, Iris Apfel is also famous as an fashion collector and a outstanding style icon.

In 2005, Metropolitan Museum’s Costum Institute put more than one hundred clothes on exhibition and made an album of her collections. Never doubt whether this small old lady has anything that will interest you or not, because her collection can really astonish you: jeweries of Gripoix and Roger Jean-Pierre( designers of Chanel, Balenciaga and YSL ), Haute Couture of Poiret, and initiatives from Lanvin、YSL and Ralph Rucci are all her daily wearings.

Though a 85 years old architecturer, she is alway invited to fasion TV programme or magzines such as VOGUE and BUZZAR.

Good for Suspending

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

We have been busy for about one month, preparing for contest, attending different kinds of courses, writing papers and sitting exams and in-class surprise—quizzes.

Well, after all, good news comes before all of us collapse and take on strike. You know what? Our teachers have projected a “performing week ” for us at the very beginning of this semester. Thus, we will have ONE WEEK off~!!

Next week, no lectures, no get-up-early days, no assignments and no stresses any more! All we have to do is to accomplish a script which is based on a book we have read, and to act it out in groups. Interesting task isn’t it?

Anyhow, all I am concerning about is that I can have one week off to have a good rest before taking the final exam. What a good suspending! I think I’ll really enjoy this big surprise from our din and professors.
