What A Junior Year

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

If you wanna talk with me my feelings about college life, I’d likely to talk clichés to you. And, really, they are just what am I thinking of right now.

Don’t waste your time even when you are still freshman. But, I failed. My previous two years were all spent in vain, and I was struggling to kill my time, suffering.

Do engage yourself in some extra curriculum activities. But, I failed again. I didn’t care about anything that seemed ridiculous to me during my first two years in university, not to mention attending them, almost never. Funny enough, I start to realize how important college years are for a person. If I misuse them or even not use them at all, I must be regret for my foolishness. And, as you can see now, I go to clubs, attend speech contests and join some certain kind of voluntary teams to fulfill my college life before I graduate!

What an idiot I am~! I make myself abnormally busy. My schedule is always crowded. I wish I can turn back to my lost years.

Leisure Life of Ancient Chinese Commons

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

As technologies improving fast, modern people have various ways of entertaining themselves. However, when there weren’t so advanced computers, TV sets nor MP3, how did our ancestors have entertainment?

Bird-feeding is one of the most popular way of leisure in ancient China. But, unfortunately, it’s almost disappeared from the scene. People no longer carry on this traditional entertainment. Modern Chinese choose to raise pets like dogs, cats or even snakes! A little bit crazy, I think.

    44.jpg        55.jpg

Well, there are some traditional recreations passed down until now. Chess and Go are very good examples. Their popularity goes beyond the Chinese boundary and floods over the whole world.   11.jpg        22.jpg

But, not all the traditional ways passed down are deserving appreciation. Gambling is the devil .

Chinese culture is broad and profound. There are essence that we should inherit and junks we should get rid of.

Iphone’s Coming

Monday, November 26th, 2007

As hearsays flooding that the iphone, which is under ipod brand,  is coming into China’s market. As the latest saying goes: the ipod company is going to abandon sole agency and take up direct distributor way of sales.

         20070704115327218.jpg

I think it’s reasonable for ipod company to put their plan of entering Chinese market higher on the schedual. With fake iphone flooding in Chinese market, it is necessary take action immediately. The bottomless price of fake iphone can reach as low as 4000 RMB. What a astonishing price for such a high-end IT production! However, the lack of quality guarantee can never be overcome by pilferers.

What about the price? I think the very concern is the availability of this ideal product. However, the future priced is predicted to be as low as about 4800 RMB only.

It’s good for Chinese phone addicts who intend to pursue new brands, design and functions manically. Anyway, before all the hearsays come into reality, all that we can do is to wait and see.

What I’ve Learned from the Contest

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

After the fierce competition, I’ve really benefited a lot.                           Though this time I haven’t gain very high score, and was near the edge to be included in the top three prizes, I’ve really learned a lot, not only the skills of public speaking, but also some enlightenment about how to fulfill and upgrade myself. Also, it made to have a better vision of myself.          I don’t think my performance is any worse than it should be. But, other people’s are just better than mine. I appreciate their calm manners when facing challenges and pressure. And I think there are quite a lot I have to do and make progress in.

Nervousness, after the contest, I find , is the most worthless thing people should do no matter what kind of things they are dealing with. Things just happen as they should. And relaxation is the only thing that can help you out.

Any way, I find it a great help and exciting challenge to have contest like that. It makes me wanna to work harder, to dig deeper into my major study, and to broaden my horizon. I think it’s never too late to learn.

Let me call it a day, and put an end to my diary. I must go back to my dorm, finish my homework and have some self study. Let’s keep on fighting~

My Speech Draft

Adaptation and Alternation Narrow the Gap between Dream and Reality

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It’s my great honor to share with you my view towards dreams and reality.

Talking about dreams, lots of favorable, bright and rosy images are emerging in our mind. Dream is a blueprint people have in personal imagination about future. It is spurring, cheering and heart-stirring. In comparison, reality is not always a satisfaction. Undeniably, gaps do exist between dreams and reality. What are we going to do with the disparity? I’d like to sum up my answer in two words: adaptation and alternation.

Sometimes, obstacles and pullbacks stand in the way of our perusing of dreams. Even worse, disasters may occur to handicap us from continuing and retrying. Adaptation to the cruel reality is crucial for one to regain the pleasure of life.     For instance, a devoted ballet dancer unfortunately broke her ankle in an accident. And there’s no chance for her to return to the stage. Had she better commit suicide? Or is it wise for her to hold resentment of the whole world ever after? Any way, neither of the two options will be my choice. If I were the dancer, I may choose to shift my love of dancing to appreciating and teaching the magic of this specific art to others, cuz’ I think if one loses life or the interest to it, one loses all. Thus, we can say, through adaptation and alternation we gain more than what we’ve lost.    It is the same when comes to the pursuit of dreams. On the ground of inconstant realities, the pursuit of dream is always winding and perilous. However, no matter what difficulties or discouragements we may encounter, we should never give up or give in. We should adapt ourselves to the altered situations quickly and respond accordingly with optimistic alternation. Hold fast to your dreams, they can accelerate your efforts; apply adaptation and alternation to changes. They save you and bring you to a new start.

I really appreciate your sitting there and listening to my speech. Great thanks for every body!

Wish Myself Good Luck

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

This Sunday, I will have to deliver my speech. And the whole week is busy enough to wear my out.

I don’t have much to say, cuz’ I don’t have time to think, to say or to tipe. Hope things will turn back to be normal after the contest. I am not expecting awards from the competition at all, cuz’ I know there are always people better than me. What I’m trying is to chanllenge my extreme and gain some experience of public speaking.

Anyway, nervous though I am, things just happen.

It Makes Me Mad~!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Now, I am preparing a speech to be delivered this weekend. It is a contest among Xi’an university students. Though it might be shameful, but I have to admit that even I’m a junior student, I am very nervous about the public speech. And it’s my first time to take part in such kind of contest.
It has already took my three days to write the speech draft. I’m hesitate when write down every single word. Maybe I am just too prudent to be confident. Whoop, what am I going to do with myself. Coward is the only word I can think of to describe myself right now.
Anyway, I have to finish the draft today, or I’ll have to be stared at with nothing to say at all.

Qipao–One of Chinese Classic Traditions

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Qipao is a distinctive Chinese female dress. It enjoys a growing popularity in the international fashion circle.

It originated from the Manchu in the early 17th century. As the Mauchus call themselves “Qi people”, they named the typical royal dress to be Qipao. And modern Qipao is mostly designed on the basis of Shanghai version.

Qipao is composed mainly of two pieced of silk textile. It calls for not much material, for there are no accessories like belts or scarves to go with it. Because of its simplicity, Qipao provides designers with vast and creative space: some short, some long, with low, high, or even no collars at all.

Today, more and more women in China appreciate its beauty. It is suggested that this kind of dress should become the national dress for women in China.

Have you ever heard of the unique traditional performance—face changing in Sichuan opera? Almost every tourist will be recommended to watch it in the famous Wuhou Temple, where there is a regular performance arranged to carry out on the big stage.

Face changing is the most amazing stunt in Sichuan opera. A performer in a black cap and black mantle flourishes his arm and twists his head, and his face changes into a horrible black face. He turns around and in the blink of an eye, a frivolous white face emerges. He turns around yet again, and a splendidly colored face suddenly appears!

1186287948.jpg    Can face changing be simply considered a magic trick? No! It is too vivid and striking. The essence of face changing lies in the meanings it contains and the emotions it expresses. Face changing was once a skill that was only passed on to men, but now there are some women face-changing performers who add a somewhat charming flavor to this historic art.

Resently, De Qin District, Yun Nan Province, suffers a lot from wild snowfall. Up unti today afternoon, the traffic blockade has not been cleared up yet. Meanwhile, several tourists were found trapped in scenic pots. That adds up the total number of trapped tourists to be over 100.

From Nov. 14th to 16th, the De Qin District experienced a heavy and long lasting snowy weather. The accumulation has reached up to over 40 centimetres. The wild snow brings the district break off of electricity, cable signal and communication with outside. No. 214 National Highway was blocked from the thick accumulation. Almost all the connection the district owns are cut off.

Beside the over 100 trapped tourists in account, there are still some tourist out of expectation, because there are some remote seneries around the county town. Luckily, they are secured of accommodation and personal safety.

1168202271921zb44b108c003_b.jpg            It is reported that, the National Highway won’t be cleared before several days of sweeping. What’s worse, because of lack of petrol supply, some machines cannot work at all. Many of the snow-sweeping and road-repairing work are depending on manual work.
