How do we apply our 400 yuan differently…
As I’ve told you, I joined a dancing club recently. I paid 400 yuan for the two-month training. However, let’s see what my classmates are doing right now: they also spent some 400 yuan, however, for a BEC training course.
To make comments about the situation, firstly, I feel a little bit ashamed. It seems I’m not a hard-working person. Am I really a lazy girl? Don’t I care about my academic performace? My answer would be definite. I am a diligent student while I care a lot about my study. I just don’t want to be immersed by schoolwork and certificates.
In mordern society, people are driven mad by the fierece competition for jobs. Employers pay more and more attention on educational qualifications and extra certificates. Consequently, the pressure for college students to achieve those requirment are increasingly strong. Not only my classmates, I think most university students in China are attending that kind of courses every week.
For me, education is important because it makes us view the world from more sensible perspective. College is the very place you can enjoy the subject you’re really interested in. As for certificates, they are not the focus of my attention. Abilities are rather more worthwhile, in my opinion. Putting those courses out of the way, I can also get a good result in my majoy study. That’s enough.
Therefore, I chose to spend the same 400 yuan for a dancing club membership rather than taking BEC training course. I believe that edcation is aiming at fostering specialists instead of catering for market emplyers.
